Restoration of decorative plaster

Plaster artisans with EverGreene Architectural Arts are working to restore decorative plaster throughout the Capitol. Their experience in traditional craftmanship and sculpture techniques is being used to repair and replace ornamental plaster such as decorative capitals and crown molding.

An artisan from EverGreene Architectural Arts fills a mold being used to replicate capitals on columns being restored in the corridor after a non-historic wall was removed. Burlap strengthens the plaster capital.

The finished capital awaits installation on the first floor.
